Is in vitro oocyte maturation a good option for women with PCOS?

Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) may consider IVM as a possible option.

These patients with PCOS have a high follicle count and are also at increased risk of developing ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.

As the IVM technique does not require ovarian stimulation, the risk of hyperstimulation is minimized. This makes IVM a perfect fit for treating PCOS patients.

However, there is insufficient evidence to recommend IVM over conventional IVF treatment for PCOS patients. In addition, there is also no clear evidence that shows better results in terms of IVM pregnancy rates compared to conventional IVF in cases of PCOS.
